At JDH, crews embody the corporate safety motto: PUT SAFETY INTO ACTION DAILY. As such, our leadership conducts daily toolbox talks in an effort to provide daily safety enrichment. Due to the dynamic nature of the industry, it is required and expressly understood that risk assessments to identify dangers and developing appropriate measures to mitigate identified hazards are the safeguard for our employees, clients, public and the environment. Therefore, supervisors, in concert with safety leadership, develop a Job Hazard Analysis for each project. This facilitates a clear understanding of the unique occupational and environmental pitfalls associated with a given worksite. The safety leadership team regularly conducts safety audits to enhance crew accountability for safety protocol.
JDH acknowledges that accident prevention starts before our personnel set foot on a job site. As such, the corporate safety leadership has established JDH Safety University as an integral portion of the onboarding process. This program educates new hires as to the unique occupational hazards encountered by JDH crews. It includes OSHA 10 and 30-hour certifications, job-specific programming including ComTrain, and CPR and First Aid training. Additionally, all equipment and vehicle operators undergo an annual DOT Physical.
JDH is a drug-free construction provider. All personnel undergo pre-employment drug screening. Additionally, all employees involved in a vehicular or jobsite accident submit to investigatory drug and alcohol screening. JDH conducts random drug screening for all employees, as well. All drug tests utilize the hair follicle screening method, in partnership with a national network of testing clinics.
JDH strives to be the safety pacesetter and positive example for the industry. JDH has worked 1,000,000 man hours without a lost-time accident, which demonstrates the commitment of JDH management and all employees to the JDH safety program.
